Are you frustrated? Do you often wonder why your child seemingly does not listen? Do you receive calls or emails from your child's teacher? Are you just plain tired of the looks from other adults in the grocery store over your child's behaviors? If so, I get it. I was, sometimes still am, that Mom. But, let's face it, no child is perfect. Knowing that, what do we do about it? Hold our breath as we enter the store and count the days until they move out and we can shop alone OR arm ourselves with as much knowledge as we can to help shape our kids to be mature and successful adults. (And maybe have a little peace in our homes while they are still growing.)
Lagging skills and underlying reasons can cause many different responses. Do you have a child who seems to often overreact over simple instructions, refuses to do his/her school work, takes the backs off your shoes while you are walking, often hits other kids, or any number of other reactions, I am here to tell you there could be a multitude of reasons why that may be. And most likely none of it is your, or your child's, fault.
If you have a child or teen who struggles with Emotional Regulation, Executive Functioning, Sensory, Reading and/or Math, there are solutions. If you want to better understand and support your child, help them thrive, and have peace in your home, I am here to help you learn how to do that.
